about

Bronze Patina is essentially a giant music composition and production class. I had never created electronic music of any kind before starting the project, so I've pushed myself to learn new techniques and styles along the way.

The result is a lot of oddities and leftovers. Enjoy this potpourri of Patina.

"A Barbarian From The Hills" and "Assault On Acroplis 13" were some of my favorite songs, but suffered from early production problems, so they've been reworked.

"Chariots Return to Pylos" is an attempt to recreate the original version (released on the "Bronzen Battle: Masters of Mesopotamia" EP) in a more layered, orchestral style, using only the default VSTs in GarageBand.

"Olives and Grapes"—originally appearing on my first EP—was also remixed, although this feels like a less successful reworking than the others I remixed recently.

"Wares of Glass" was released as a single, originally intended as a track for "Sailing on Cedar" Vol. 3, which I never completed.

"Taunts And Torments", "Crenellated" and "Xuthal" were all written for an ultimately-abandoned album in October 2023.

"I Ask No Man To Fight My Battles" is the instrumental version of the track that appeared on "The Black Circle". The final version adds Summoning-style voice samples.

"Shipyards At Byblos" appeared on my Phoenecian-focused album Sailing On Cedar. The early version had much more of a drone-y background tone that I ultimately abandoned in a remix, although the atmosphere of it is nice.

"A Spirited Debate", "Strolling Among Market Stalls" and "Starlight Between Columns" were originally released as the "Forum Romanum" mini EP, my only attempt at Comfy Synth.

"The Palace At Knossos" originally appeared on the "Lasting Legacy" EP, a Minoan-themed ambient release. The other track on that album is best left forgotten.
